A lot of Leadership is a Private Journey of some hard-hitting decisions making. Do you agree?
Yes! I completely agree. Indecision is the crime. There are times when decisions need to be taken swiftly. That is what Leadership is all about. To be able to understand, gauge the situation and be willing to take decisions that will impact is an important factor of a firm Leadership. Decisions making is one of the important attributes of a Leader.
Were there any important mentors or influencers in your life that led you to your current position?
My biggest mentor is my Father. It is because of him that I have been able to dream big and stay focused. In my course of professional life, I have been influenced by other successful business persons from whom I have been fortunate to learn the nuances of business.
How do you think being a woman impacts your leadership style?
In a Service Industry, being a woman Leader is a blessing in the sense that women are natural multi taskers and service industry is a demanding one where decisions need to be taken instantly. Also, women are process driven with balanced view points and that is actually what drives a leadership.
What will be the biggest challenge for the generation of women behind you? What would be your advice to her?
In our business, every single day is a challenge by itself. One can never be sure what may go wrong and it requires extreme composure and grit to work towards solutions. But then there is no Fun in life if there are no challenges to conquer. It makes you tough and competent. I would tell the young woman to believe in herself, dream big and work towards your passion. It is important to stay self motivated.
In times of stress what is it that gives you solace?
The best time of the day would be to watch the rising sun. It gives me mental peace. I enjoy sitting in the terrace garden. Another thing that I enjoy is cooking different cuisines for my children that help me in distressing.
Who is your anchor woman in life to whom you would dedicate this interview too?
My mother. A most humble person who has been a strong anchor for all of us.

असं म्हणतात की एक चांगला लीडर म्हणून आयुष्यात अनेक कठोर निर्णय घ्यावे लागतात. लीडरशीप आणि डिसिजन मेकिंग बद्दलचे तुमचे अनुभव सांगा.
कधी कधी निर्णय घेताना तुम्हाला खूप कमी वेळात पटकन एकदा निर्णय घ्यावा लागतो पण तो घेताना तुम्ही अनिश्चित असता कामा नये. माझ्यामते ‘लिडरशीप’ म्हणजे एखादी समस्या समजून घेत त्या समस्येच्या सगळ्या बाजूंनी विचार करत काहीतरी प्रॉडक्टिव्ह आणि ठोस निर्णय घेता येणे.
एक ‘बिझनेस वूमन’ म्हणून घडताना तुमच्यावर सगळ्यात जास्ती कोणाचा प्रभाव आहे?
माझ्या आयुष्यातील सगळ्यात जास्ती महत्वाचे आणि जवळचे मार्गदर्शक म्हणजे माझे बाबा! त्यांनी मला कायमच मोठी स्वप्ने पहायला शिकवलं. आणि प्रोफेशनल आयुष्याचे म्हणाल तर इतर यशस्वी उद्योजकांकडे बघून मी नेहमीच खूप प्रेरित होते.
स्त्री असल्याचा तुमच्यातील नेतृत्वशैलीवर कसा परिणाम होतो?
सेवा क्षेत्रात असल्याने स्त्री असल्याचा मला कायम फायदाच झाला आहे. कारण या क्षेत्रात तुम्ही ‘मल्टी टास्किंग’ असणे अपेक्षित असते आणि स्त्रिया ‘मल्टी टास्किंग’ असतातच. माझ्या क्षेत्रात कोणताही निर्णय हा पटकन पण विचारपूर्वक घेणे अपेक्षित असते आणि स्त्रिया कायम सारासार विचार करून निर्णय घेतात यावर माझा पूर्ण विश्वास आहे त्यामुळे स्त्रिया चांगले नेतृत्व करू शकतात असे मला कायमच वाटते.
तुमच्या मते आजच्या तरुणींपुढे काय आव्हाने आहेत? आणि तुम्ही त्यांना काय मार्गदर्शन देऊ इच्छिता?
माझ्या व्यवसायात उगवणारा प्रत्येक दिवस नवी नवी आव्हाने घेऊन येत असतो. तुमच्यासमोर कधी कोणती समस्या उद्भवेन सांगता येत नाही आणि त्या समस्येतून मार्ग काढण्यासाठी तुम्हाला सदैव तत्पर असावे लागते. आयुष्यात जर आव्हानेच नसतील तर काही मजाच नाही राहणार. आव्हानांमुळेच तुम्ही सक्षम होता. त्यामुळे पुढच्या पिढीला माझे एकच सांगणे आहे की स्वतःवर विश्वास ठेवा, मोठी स्वप्न बघा आणि ती पूर्ण करण्यासाठी मनापासून प्रयत्न करा.
आजकालच्या धकाधकीच्या जीवनशैलीचा मनावर जो ताण येतो तो घालवायला काय करता?
माझ्यासाठी दिवसातली सगळ्यात सुंदर वेळ म्हणजे उगवत्या सूर्याला बघणे, त्यामुळे माझ्या मनाला शांतता लाभते. माझ्या ‘टेरेस गार्डन’ मध्ये निवांत बसायला देखील मला आवडते. आणि सगळ्यात महत्वाचे म्हणजे माझ्या मुलांना वेगवेगळे पदार्थ करून खायला घालायला देखील मला खूप आवडते. त्यांच्या चेहऱ्यावरील आनंदाने माझ्या मनावरचा ताण कुठल्या कुठे पळून जातो.
ही मुलाखत तुमच्या आयुष्यातील सगळ्यात प्रेरणादायी स्त्रीला समर्पित करायची असेल तर कोणाला समर्पित कराल?
माझी आई! तिच्यामुळेच आम्हा सर्वांना काम करण्याची प्रेरणा मिळते.
